UNC Greensboro, MLIS | Spring 2021
This was a semester-long group project with the goal of creating a metadata schema that would provide effective access and discoverability of the assigned digital collection. Project tasks included:
-
Develop a metadata schema based on existing standards (DC, VRA, LIDO, etc.) and create new elements as needed
-
Define any content and value specifications, required vocabularies or display standards, and any other applicable notes and establish an application profile
-
Create a Crosswalk that maps our metadata schema to Dublin Core and MODS Lite
-
Develop the XML schema for our element set. Then, using Omeka, test it with the provided digital collection — review and evaluate the effectiveness of our schema
UNC Greensboro, MLIS | Spring 2020
In Spring 2020, I was enrolled in a seminar course called LIS 688 Data Visualization where I learned about about data visualization software, what "good" visualization looks like, and how to present my data effectively.
We were assigned a semester long project where we had to analyze a data set of our choosing and present our findings to the class. With our chosen data set, the project consisted of completing smaller assignments and compiling them all onto our own Google Sites
The Google Site for my data set is available for public view and includes:
-
Data plan report
-
Interactive Infographic
-
Powerpoint presentation
-
Tableau dashboards
